Exploring Forest Park
Today the first and second graders were able to hike and explore together in Forest Park’s Kennedy Woods & Oak Savanna. We hiked through the woods, explored a little creek, and made our way to a lean-to structure in a beautiful grove of white pines. Students had options to explore, play, draw, paint, create collage art with nature, build nature sculptures and cairns, collect, and take nature photos. The students were so eager to learn about different plants and animals, and Forest Park is such a rich and diverse park. We spotted hawks, woodpeckers, an indigo bunting (bird), a toad, a frog, and a raccoon! It was such a sweet morning to spend together!
