Upper Studio – February 2020
Students recently enjoyed working on a project influenced by various contemporary ceramic artists: depicting tiny homes, and model cities. We began by first making a simple house, focusing on how to shape clay (i.e. roll a ball, form a cube). We added small details, like texture to the roofs and small doors and windows. Students then went on to explore other elements of the physical community around them, like stores, museums, schools, and monuments. Encouraged by this project the next step will be a simple glaze process and then displaying the completed city with all its beautiful diversity and complexity.
