Michael has been at St. Michael School for 21 years, first as father of Claire (25) and Pete (23) and then as curator for “The 100 Languages of Children”, an exhibition of Reggio Children sponsored by the St. Louis Reggio Collaborative. He has been aterlierista (a “teacher” with an arts background) at TSMSOC since 2000. Under the mentorship of Ashley Cadwell, former head of TSMSOC, Michael was provided several opportunities to visit and study in the municipal schools of Reggio Emilia while attending study tours. He is a graduate of University of Redlands, with a degree in studio art and minor in art history. A devoted cyclist, Michael’s accomplishments include opening and operating a very successful gallery in St. Louis, raising two very visual learners (Claire and Pete) and introducing four Bernese Mountain Dogs as members of the extended St. Michael School faculty. Michael is married to Faith Sandler, who runs a nonprofit organization and is vastly outnumbered by the artists in the family.
